Silence.

The sound is only there to obscure the silence.

If you want to detect the sound of Tirany, listen for a silence.
Lies being told, truth withheld, reports not reported, public
opinions manipulated, events being staged and exploited: the sound
of the silence, conspiracy, fear on the side of the tirants to be
caught and prosecuted, mufling the sound of those unjustly imprisoned,
mistreated & tortured, opponents silently being murdered.

Silence is what Tirany sounds like, doesn't it, a poisenous silence.

If I'm listening to the USA, there seems to be a silence there. 
Why ? Why Iraq, Afghanistan ? Why the torture ? Why the poverty ?
Why the war building ? Why the broken campaign promises ? No answer.
Silence. Tirany.

Do not fear, but gladden at the chance to spill your own blood for
freedom and justice, when and if that opportunity arises, to honor
our forfathers who did it before us, to save our children who will
come after us ! Pain is but a fleeting moment. The sound of Tirany
is the fear of the Tirants themselves, who quacke and shiver when
they think about the real power in this world: the people at large.
