Not by your fist, but with a cup of tea: don't listen to the 'traditional' socialist orgs and their immature ideas on revolution or reforms. The class struggle in Thailand http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/apr2010/pers-a15.shtml The class struggle in Thailand 15 April 2010 Weeks of anti-government demonstrations in Bangkok came to a head last Saturday in street battles as heavily-armed troops in riot gear attempted to break up one of two protest camp sites in the Thai capital. The resulting death toll has climbed to 23--18 civilians and 5 soldiers. Hundreds were injured on both sides as thousands of protesters stood their ground and finally forced the troops to retreat. What has erupted in Thailand is the elemental first stage of class struggles that have broad significance for workers throughout the region and internationally. Bitter political infighting in the Thai ruling elites over the past four years has opened the door for the entry of sections of the rural and urban poor into political life. Along with demands for immediate elections, deeper social concerns over poverty and unemployment have begun to intrude. (...) They call this "the elemental first stage of class struggles," and seem to be suggesting we should do this the world over. Bad idea, unless the conditions are absolutely dire and bloody already, and even then. These people can not lead anything if this is their theory of struggle, after having had oceans of time to prepare. If this is what they call 'elemental,' they are demoted to foot soldiers, if even that. Better keep an eye on them, for not causing more violence then it is worth, then. I'm rejecting the 4th international, they have lost their standing. What is this, but inciting bloody rebellion for no reason, without a plan for winning ? What war is worth fighting without a peaceplan ? They don't even have a war plan, much less a peace plan. Mere immature babble, and that for what says to be an international organization of all labor. If you have the majority to win an insurrection, you practically have the majority to erect a functioning new state system, especially one inspired on the comitee model (groups voting for representatives, who then from councils) because such a model is easy to set up from nowhere and by everyone at the same time, without needing a command center. The peace and justice plan must always have precedence on any war plan, and even more over empty headed chaotic war making. With an erected peoples government in hand, any armed struggle required will be much easier to win as well. The pen is mightier then the sword, nukes stand no chance in battle with a cup of tea. But, no peace without justice. However, all in good time (no war without it being absolutely necessary). Also do note that if you postpone the war, if you seek peace, then if you are forced to go do war finally, you will win it more easily if the wait has convinced more people what side is the side of prosperity, peace and justice (which should be our side). The 4th international has stepped down, fine with me, np. If they thought they said this kind of war is necessary in Thailand, they should not have made it an example internationally, but they did. They seem to suggest such battle is elementary, even in western Europe for example. We are not even approaching that situation, the constructive revolution hasn't even been attempted, and therefore it hasn't been attacked with force either (by virtue of net yet existing). Try to use the old bulge on your neck, then you can win ! -- http://www.socialism.nl
